Bachelor's
Bachelor in Computer Engineering (BCT) in Nepal – Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University
Bachelor in Computer Engineering (BCT) is a four-year, eight-semester degree run by Tribhuvan University's Institute of Engineering across 138 credit hours. It sits further towards hardware and systems than BSc CSIT, pairing programming, data structures, databases, networks, artificial intelligence and software engineering with digital logic, microprocessors, computer architecture, instrumentation and signal processing. Four electives, a minor project, a final-year project and an internship complete it. Admission is by rank on the IOE entrance examination, and as an engineering degree it opens the engineering registration route. Curriculum shown follows IOE's 2080 batch structure.

- Worth knowing
- Academic qualification: 10+2 Science or an equivalent recognised by Tribhuvan University, generally requiring at least a C grade in each subject or second division under the percentage system.
- Entrance examination: the IOE BE and BArch entrance is compulsory and is the only route in. One national merit list decides both the campus and the fee category offered.
- Competition: Computer Engineering is the most contested programme in the IOE entrance, and its regular-seat cutoff is the tightest of any campus and faculty combination.
- Fee category: your rank determines whether you are offered a regular or a full-fee seat at the same campus, and the difference in cost is several times over.
- Professional registration: as an engineering degree, BCT opens the Nepal Engineering Council registration route, which BSc CSIT, BCA and BIT do not. Confirm current requirements with the council.
- Confirm the current structure and seat allocation against the IOE admission notice for your cycle.
